River Angus History (1890 -
2000)
The farm first started June 1, 1880 and in 1890 it was
changed into Oak Lane Farms
and went as so until 1930 where it became
Meadow Lawn Farm. It stayed with this name until 1966 when the dairy farm
ended and became Red River Angus. Red River Angus is a family farm consisting of 1200 acres
owned and leased, growing wheat, barley, oats, corn, soybeans, sugar beets
and alfalfa. We raise and finish our calves on grain and hay raised
on our farm. We also don't use growth stimulants (implants) or
antibiotic feed. Our cattle are raised as natural
as possible.
We do vaccinate our cattle but use killed vaccines as much as
possible. We sell steers and some heifers for slaughter by the
half. We have all animals processed by Joppru's of Thief River
Falls, MN. They are federally inspected. Our steers are
finished on a ration of corn, oats, wheat, wheat screening and sugar beet
pulp from American Crystal Sugar Company. They also have free choice
of grass hay at all times.
We also sell registered and commercial bulls, bred heifers and on occasion bred cows. Our customers tell us the taste of our beef is much better than grocery store beef. Your satisfaction is guaranteed! Please give us a call for prices and availablity.
